Hi all,
Before giving an update of club activities in the club I would like to remember our late club member Dan O’ Donnell who sadly passed away on the 5th of February after a short illness. He was a very active member of the community and enjoyed cycling with the club amongst many other interests and activities he partook in. It is such a sad thing to happen to a young person and it was evident from his funeral that he was very well liked and respected in the community. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.

Training activities/events of note are :
Regular Training:
Running (Point of contact Gary Madden)
Gary is doing interval sessions in Clarisford park at 7.15pm on Tuesday nights . These are a great way to build up a bit of speed and are a painless event( if you don’t get carried away with the speed aspect), everyone runs at their own pace.
There are also Thursday 7.15pm interval speed sessions on the track at Clarisford park. These are run by Larry Arthur but Boru Tri members are welcome to attend. These are focussed on speed, short and fast running intervals.
Note: Gary has identified the Mallow 10mile run as an event for members to try and do. There will be car pooling and it would be good to see the club to be well represented , in the club colours black and magenta, at a run event. Mallow AC 10 Mile Road Race – Mallow Athletic Club
Cycling: (Point of contact Martin Pearl)
9am from Aldi every Sunday ( will change to 8am when there is better morning light)
(Target is for three groups, but that changes depending on turnout ). Route is posted on Viber on Saturday evenings or any change to plans as may happen.
If you’re starting back cycling after a long absence or new to the club reach out to Martin and he will advise how best to start off.
An event that was well attended by the club last year was the ‘O’ Neill Industrial Charity Cycle’ It’s on the 22nd April this year and is a cycle that would be good to target for a good club participation.

Swimming – (Point of Contact Donagh O’ Sullivan)
We hope to start outdoor swimming in May , it won’t be long in coming around. Some people keep up training in local pools ,UL, Nenagh, Ennis , Lakeside etc. It is a good time to take swim lessons for those who want to start or improve their swimming. Reach out to club members Dee Kearney and Wendy Szarnek as they might have ideas or spaces in swim sessions they are putting on over the winter /spring months.
Events are up and running per the Triathlon Ireland calendar, various run events and cycle sportives and it won’t be long before outdoor swim events start to appear. Hope you set yourself some challenges and enjoy some new and old events. There are a lot of people that will have experience of various events , if there is one you are considering doing but would like to know more about put a question on Viber and chances are someone has tried the event before and give some good advice.
Keep safe on the roads, hills and open water and enjoy the brighter days on the way.
Good luck to those taking part in events and new activities in the coming weeks in particular Crevan who is taking part in Tokyo marathon on March the 5th. Gambatte!
Yours in sport,
Doangh O’ Sullivan
