Running with Boru Tri Club
Running training for the club takes place in Clarisford Park throughout the year except for July and August when we take a break to accommodate competitions and make room for swim and bike sessions on the long evenings. The sessions are held each Tuesday and Thursday at 19.15. Head torches are required for the winter evenings.
It is expected that everybody will perform their own warmup routine including dynamic stretches as preparation for the session proper which begins at 19.25. The interval-based session allows us to cater for all abilities. Each athlete ought to push themselves at a race pace for ‘on’ segments to get full value from training, and recovery is usually walked during the ‘off’ segments.
We vary the session each evening to keep it interesting, but a typical programme might simply be 4 minutes of running x 4 with 1-minute recovery. We close out each session with some static stretches and a slowly-jogged lap as a group to cool down.
Boru Tri Club believes in building friendships and lasting bonds through a community of like-minded people through regular social activities.
Killaloe/Ballina Leisure Cycles have organised cycles every Sunday leaving Killaloe at 8am during the summer and 9am in the winter.
